Where to find mithril
At the height of his 'reign' Ecsslo was known to send a free parrot to his biggest clients. Many green wing macaws found homes among countless budding blacksmiths. Endless testimonials have begun to pour in, most echoing a common sentiment about how easy Ecsslo made it for many blacksmiths to become Weaponsmiths or Armorsmiths. Too many greedheads.
I made a ton of gold, and at one point had mithril bars in the bank. Ignore the copper, but mine the gold and truesilver because these will respawn as mithril. In hours I would hearth home to IF with ores easily. Once I came back with ores, biggest haul from one trip ever. Always sell in ones, twos, threes, fours, fives, sixes ONLY. Never have gold appear in your prices, always sell for amounts that are always under 1G.
This is a psychological advantage. People look for bargains, and many will compulsively click on "6 for 98s" price before clicking on a "15 for 2g40s" simply because the 6 for 98s looks like a better deal because it has no gold in the price. I would always put up at least 30 listings of mithril, in 1's, 2's, 3's and 6's It builds confidence if a person goes to buy mithril and always sees that you have lots and lots of it for sale. Every bar that I put up sold within 24 hours..
Make the bid price always just one silver piece below the buy price. You won't catch them all, but it does increase your inventory Repeat buyers will automatically look for your name and buy up your entire lot without bothering to see that someone else might have stacks for 2g80s a better price..
I saw this happen over and over again. Regular buyers would take my whole lot and not even bother to look that another seller had several 20's stacks for a better price So what do I have to show for it? I'm at level 61 as I write this, and I have nearly complete suits of armor and weapons waiting in the bank for me to level up into I have all 16 slot bags in every bank slot and carrying on my character. When the 20 slot bags get into circulation I will be able to buy them all and replace all the 16 slot bags..
And I have 30,G in the bank I could never figure out when I would have some bars listed for around s a piece that some bozo would even bother to list stacks for 3,4, or 5 times what I was selling for.. What manner of self deception must one employ to convince themselves that it could possibly sell? Did they not observe that I never let my merchandise for sale on the AH become depleted? It would often boggle my mind I just don't understand it Comment by Thottbot Its all about the Badlands.
Im 59 now and i left my mining skill far behind to lvl up so for 3 hours i farmed there to go from and i got 97 Met ores there, so make sure to check out that area! Comment by Allakhazam Where is the best place to mine Mithril Ore? Comment by Allakhazam Also a good place to mine mithril is feralas 26,67 in the cave about 4 veins in average. So now we come the real money making stuff, Mithril. This stuff is used in such quantities by Engineering and Blacksmithing that you will always sell what you mine for a good profit.
Blasted Lands: just do full circuits, simple. Comment by Here's a trick to get all the mithril ore you could ever want. First, go to the Speedbarge where the Shimmering Flats used to be.
Pick up the quest "Down in the Deeps". This will equip you with both underwater breathing and super underwater speed. Now take off underwater back towards Feralas mining all the way. There is very little to hurt you and most of it is in the Shimmering area. Comment by One lap around Burning Steppes brought in mithril ore.
They definately buffed the spawn rate of notes in cata! Comment by Best place to mine Mithril is at the bottom of Thousand Needles. Go to the barge over what used to be the Shimmering Flats. Get the quest Down in the Deeps. This gives you underwater breathing, but more important, high speed underwater movement.
This is one quest I'll never finish. Whenever I come back for more ore to sell in the AH, I get all of the attributes back. Look in the screenshot section for reference. Edit: After farming here for some time, I can safely you will never have to wait for the ores to respawn. Edit 2: I'll link the screenshot in this post instead. Here you go.
Comment by riaden Felwood was the best place for me Comment by Marphisa The Badlands is a great place, as mentioned above. Comment by zybero Patch 4. In one North to South run along the east side of the zone I found the following: 62x Mithril Ore 51x Solid Stone 1x Star Ruby This took me about 2 minutes, but it should be noted that I have the guild perk. Still one of the best places for Mithril since Cataclysm that I've found though.
Comment by reilyn I strongly recommend farming this in Felwood. I did just one trip around Felwood and got ore and I was farming for Also, the cave at 73, 58 is worth your time. I do recommend you do a couple of quests that take you to Shimmering Deep so you can get the permanent swim and water breathing buff from the NPC there. It is active whenever you are in the area. I literally was able to farm 60 ore in about 20 minutes.
Comment by Neglesh I highly recommend Felwood for Mithril! I got A LOT there, it was all over the pace. I just followed the mountain edges and gathered a whole bunch. Playing shortly before 4. Comment by AzureSN Felwood's perfect, especially if you're looking to profit as well. There are usually some True Silver nodes in the circuit and in one loop I average at about stacks of Mirthril Ore. Comment by Dreadreaver You can find lots of them underneath the waters of the Thousand Needles.
Comment by Darleese Just to confirm posts above - Felwood is an amazing place. I followed the suggestion to fly around the edges of the zone, although I did enter the Irontree cavern as well.
Comment by Novaen I enjoyed looking for mithril ores in Badlands! I farmed and farmed, and with an epic mount it goes VERY fast! However Uldaman has close to veins in front of the dungeon if you're lucky and no one else has been there. I just entered it and my minimap went crazy with the amount of Mithril Deposits there were.
This is NOT the instance, but before entering the portal there will be tons of deposits. Comment by There is one post with the map about Hinterlands from now Dec. Comment by Astralon So far the best place to farm mithril is Searing Gorge, hands down for 4.
There wasn't a single second I hadn't a node on the minimap. Picked up 20 stacks in less than 2 hours! Just circle around the area. Flying mount not required, but of course speeds thing up. Comment by Monomatapa The badlands aren't bad at all pun intended. Just mined loads and loads. Comment by mmzin Like Astralon said Searing Gorge is great place to get them. And there is Burning Steps right next to Searing that have a lot of mithril as well. Comment by rodrain2 I haven't seen anyone mention the Burning Steppes but if u do circles u will collect a boatload of mithril ore, not to mention a little bit of gold ore and truesilver.
Comment by Best place to gather mithril ore is Badlands, just follow mountains or go to the Dig One, many veins of mithril are there. Comment by As of patch 4. This is decreased from the previous minimum of The whole zone is pretty decent overall for the stuff as well as a bit of Truesilver , but if you're looking for a really quick way to add a hefty amount of ore to your bags, check out Dreadmaul Rock.
There are many nodes dotting the outside of the mountain, as well as 2 separate caves that are just littered with Mithril. I got about 4 stacks in a little over 10 minutes just from this one area. I checked back about 10 minutes later, and most of the nodes had actually respawned, indicating a pretty darn fast rate. Comment by lemasive Felwood is by far the best place to farm mithril atm, imo.
You can do a full clean in less than 20 min. I'm on Spinebreaker, a dead server kinda , so I was the only one mining there. Comment by cyllocke A quick round in Felwood, around the edges of the map, with a lvl 70 mount produced the following: X mithril X solid stone 6 X gold 3 X truesilver 1 X citrine 1 X star ruby 1 X aquamarine 1 X black vitriol That's without the guild buff.
Not bad for about 25 mins - I still think the Burning Steppes and the Searing Gorge are better, though Comment by After I've read many of these threads I wanted to add a post too.. I was grinding about 40 min, and i came up with a total of Iron ores, and mithril ore..
Comment by For level 85s I perfer Burning Steppes. Really easy to get them, in 40 minutes farming I got almost ! Mithril ore. You just go around and around and around it and find Mithrils everywhere. Sometimes you can find a truesilver or a gold deposite! Just earned 3,5k g in 40 min on my server! Comment by mountainmiester Confirmed, Burning Steppes seems to be the best I have found now. Seemed like every few yards in fact and a ton of nodes around Dreadmaul Rock and in the caves.
I get about ores an hour here. Gold and Truesilver as well. Comment by I've found Thousand Needles one of my favorite places to mine Mithril as no one seems to go there, at least not on my server, because it is now under water and you are obviously slower when swimming. It also has a bit of a mix of Iron too. This brings up Gold, Silver and True Silver veins as well.
I went to the blasted lands for Mithril and found more Thorium than anything so I wouldn't recommend there. Burning Steppes is a relatively good place for Mithril.
Comment by Just spent exactly an hour farming Burning Steppes with pretty good success. I did full circuits and 2 trips into Dreadmaul Rock and this is what I came away with: mithril ore solid stone 16 true silver ore 39 gold ore 5 star rubies 1 jade 7 citrines 4 aquamarines. Comment by Pops For lower level mid 40's toons, you can't beat Thousand Needles. No mobs to fight and an endless supply of nodes because nobody else seems to go there.
Thirty minutes of farming netted me close to Mithril Ore and I never saw anyone else. If you're doing the quests in the area, you'll be able to breathe underwater and you can use your land mount to move around faster. It was awesome tooling around on my Goblin Trike on the submerged roads on the bottom. Comment by knighterrant81 Seems to me all the ore in Thousand Needles is underwater, which makes it really annoying to gather there.
Go to Burning Steppes. Comment by whiteraevyn Thousand Needles is the best place for Mithril in the game. BUT, it's all underwater. The trick? Alternately, any breadcrumb quest which takes you to that Goblin Party Boat in Thousand Needles should work. When you accept DitD, if you jump in the water in Thousand Needles, you will gain the "Speedbarge Diving Helm" buff, which allows you to breathe underwater AND walk quickly along the bottom.
This works in the entire zone! Walk along the bottom of Thousand Needles and mine your face off. You're welcome. Comment by If you've finished the cata quests in thousand needles, I find it a great place to farm mithril. With the underwater gear you can walk along the edge of the board underwater swiftly and find the ore in abundance.
Walking, not swimming is the key. With the underwater gear, when you "walk" you move very fast. I've managed to level mining from to on a steady rate as if node were still yellow for me.
Comment by Eastern Plaguelands is a good spot to mine this, if you are a Death Knight or otherwise can easily get to Undercity. This will yield you a good amount of mithril one run yielded two stacks for me in around 10 minutes.
Comment by cmac Burning Steppes definately the best and most convenient if your alliance. Lots of Mithril and Gold ore. After 20 minutes, I got three nodes uncontested and all others I either had a bot hover over me and leave while mining, or saw another player mining.
Beware if this was your go-to spot before CRZ. Leveled to mining in short period of time and several of the nodes were all on screen at the same time.
Comment by levalilletsy i went to felwood. Comment by parkerj If you are leveling your Miner and Herbalist and you are Alliance not saying horde can't do it but it is faster for Ally to get there from SW then I would recommend Burning Steppes. Just circle the area and be sure to stop by the mountain at the east end.
The mountain contains 2 caves one with ogres and the other with warlock type orcs both will house a lot of mithril nodes not to mention all the nodes on the outside of the mountain also. This is also a great place to for leveling your Herb gathering from to Sungrass and firebloom a plenty and the there are spots of Dreamfoil to finish off to get to Burning Steppes also house a few NPCs to sell to if you need to clear out your bags in the middle of farming.
Comment by smackie9 Searing Gorge is a good place. Lots of gold and some truesilver too. If it gets busy there hop over to Burning Steppes. The nods there give you a good source of gems as well.
You move faster cause of the flippers so you're better off than the badlands, and no mobs to fight for veins, cept by the barge there are pirates.
Comment by sandreid87 The Irontree Cavern in Felwood 55,18 is absolutely ridiculous! I just sweeped through the entire cavern I got about Mithril Ores from it , got outside and flew over it, to continue my mining in the rest of the zone.
But by then the deposits inside had already respawned inside the cavern, so I literally had to turn around and mine the exact same deposites again inside.
This happened to me twice in a row. The cavern is amazing. There are about 30 spawnpoints for the deposits in it. Sometimes when you are inside, you are surrounded by yellow dots on the minimap. It's quite common that there's at least deposits on your minimap at the same time. On top of all this, the cavern is crawling with Moss Flayers, so if you're a Warrior or Feral Druid, you can quickly move around inside the cave with Charge-like abilities. They are basically just there to help you move around faster!
Try it out guys! Thumps up if you had similar results, and please reply with confirms : EDIT: 30 mins, 3 runs in the cave resulted in Mithril Ore. This is no cavern. It's a mine! A mithril mine! Comment by Tammara This ore is very common in Felwood, it also always seems to be deserted, which helps. Comment by riggy88 Best place to farm Mithril Ore is in Felwood as of 5.
Comment by ermelyn If you're a druid miner got to Thousand Needles and you'll find more mithril than you can shake a stick at and you can do it in your aqua form.
Started hardmode recently, and i have died a TON so far, i am finding it extremely hard to progess because im a little confused on what to do next, and i think i should start by finding mythril but i only have 8 bars, after countless mining trips i have ended up dead or with cobalt only, is there a trick im missing? Showing 1 - 11 of 11 comments. Arachloon View Profile View Posts. Use a bunch of crates from fishing. Ember View Profile View Posts. Also, if you only broke 3 alters to get the 3 ores break more since the more you break the more ore there will be.
Clarinet man View Profile View Posts. Fishing crates do work well. If you don't like fishing, Spelunking potions are great. Also note that there are consequences to breaking more than three Demon Altars, so you might not want to try that.
Last edited by TheDoggyDoge ; 24 Aug, pm. First, get some cobalt ores. After that, dig deeper.
